Auttiköngäs log-floating cabin

Auttiköngäs log-floating cabin

The Auttiköngäs Log-Driving Cabin is located at the edge of the Auttiköngäs conservation area, 70.3 km east of Rovaniemi. The log cabin stands on the beautiful shoreline of Auttijoki, close to the Auttiköngäs waterfall. A photograph exhibition about the log-driving culture is on display in the cabin. It is equipped with a natural-stone fireplace for frying sausages and making coffee. There is also a large table and benches. Firewood can be found in the nearby woodshed. In the Auttiköngäs parking area, there are waste bins and an outhouse suitable for the disabled.

Directions: drive 2.6 km out of Rovaniemi on Sodankyläntie; turn right on Kuusamontie: drive 49.3 km to Vanttauskoski; turn right on Kuusamontie; drive 1.5 km; turn left on Kuusamontie; drive 27.5 km; turn left on Auttikönkääntie; drive 1.2 km to the parking area. There is a short accessible trail from the parking area to the log-driving cabin.
