Liimatainen Kirsi - Karjalapatsas (1957)

Located in Ruokasenpuisto, the Karjalapatsas statue was designed by Kirsi Liimatainen in 1957 and erected by Karelians in Lapland. The statue is made of red granite and bears the Karelia coat of arms and the inscription: “Tää on kosketus kotoa kallihista Karjalasta omalta oloperältä yhteistyön yrittämältä.” (Loosely translated as: A touch of home from dearest Karelia, born of our nature, put here by our efforts joined)
